some cute videos

all,

About 3 weeks ago, I went to a yard sale.

I bought a Barbie Powerwheel Jeep for about $50 for the girl. It required a new battery and a charger to the tune of about $90. My calculator tells me that is a $140 investment.

I also bought the cheapo princess-singing doodad in the video below for a single dollar. She loves this about 2000% more than the expensive and garage-hogging power wheel.

Alex also recently got a jump-rope. Here is her idea of jumping-rope:

I like how abruptly she gives up and walks off.

Making a Garden

Dearest all,

I had a terribly difficult weekend. I started what I thought was going to be a three hour job making a very small garden. I went to the Home Depot to get some landscaping timbers and some topsoil because I wanted to raise the garden up out of my terrible soil, which is nothing but clay and rocks.

The clay and rocks meant a tough time digging, and 3 hours became 15 or so. In the sun. I got sun-burned, kinda dehydrated, really sore, and a really-really exhasted.

My exhastion left me confused all day at work. I couldn't complete sentences. I couldn't focus. I would drop important objects. I kept missing my mouth with my sandwich and got it in my eyes.

My sunburned shoulders made me real paranoid and flinchy around my coworkers (there are alot of unsolisited back rubs at work).

Also, I ran into someone I haven't seen in about 6 months and called him "Rodger". His real name is "Al", which he reminded of me right away. Who is Rodger? I don't think I have ever met a Rodger in my life. Why did I call him that? It was a confusing day.

The icing on this painful cake is how pitiful and small this garden looks. When I look at it, it makes my heart sad.

I should get some more plants.

Basement Blog 4

Hello.

I have had my basement finished* now for about 2 months.

It is high time I show it off.

What follows are two videos that show off the two sides of the basement. They are similar to the way I shot the videos on basementblog3, when we just got drywall. This epic is also journaled in basementblog1 and basementblog2, which has a floorplan.

Here is the rec-room and ends at a double-door that goes into the mechanicals room.

Here is the second picture, turning left from the bottom of the stairs. What is shown is the bathroom (notice granite vanity top and wainscoating) and the guest bedroom.

This is the entertainment center that is built-in to the wall.

Did you try to click on it to play it? It isn't a video.

As mentoned in the other blogs, there is a little bump-out in the foundation there, so I put it to use. I made it out of birch plywood from Home Depot and banded the edges with veneer. I'll paint it white to match the trim one of these days...

I ran a power outlet in there, as well as cable and speakerwire for surround-sound. It also has a peice of conduit in there that is run through the walls to a panel in the wall, so that if I ever buy a flat screen TV, and want to mount it on the wall, i can pipe my A/V through there. dope.

That's it.

* ie: liveable, safe for kids, Carpet laid, trim up, mostly painted, but still some odds-and-ends unfinished**

** such as the banster, some missing door knobs, some unpainted doors, etc***.
